Hello, I'm Emma
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in New York, United States.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The early weeks were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, high expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they should.
The Adaptation Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Over time, routines settled in. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Founded Ripple Glass Mead
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Real-world experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism board resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in United States goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emma
